We are a community of activists with direct experience of oppressive systems that we are working to change. Every day.
What does that look like?
- Educating public officials.
- Sharing real-world perspectives with the media.
- Advocating for our legislative agenda.
- Working in coalition with other groups advocating for justice.
- Pooling our expertise to help someone endangered by barriers to housing or health care.
“Mothers for Justice” was formed in 1993 by Christian Community Action in response to the so-called “Welfare Reform” movement, which drastically limited government aid and threw many families into crisis. Mothers were the group hardest hit by the policy change – yet their voices were often missing from the discussions surrounding it.
We meet regularly to discuss how to leverage our collective knowledge in our personal struggles and how to use it as a force for justice. You can also find us in the streets, at the state Capitol, at City Hall, or wherever truth needs to speak to power.
