Online Giving Program
Thank you for considering a donation to Christian Community Action. Your donation, unless otherwise indicated, will be used in general support of the following programs and services:
* Hillside Family Shelter: This program provides emergency housing and support at three sites for up to 17 families that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, using furnished apartments ranging in size from efficiency to 3-bedroom. While a part of Hillside, families are helped by CCA staff in their efforts to secure permanent housing and in dealing with the issues that led to their homelessness. They are also helped in their efforts to once again become self-sufficient.
* Stepping Stone Transitional Housing Program: This program provides longer-term (up to two years) housing and support for up to 18 families that are homeless, while the adults in the families undergo training, take educational courses, seek employment or otherwise seek to improve their lives. Featuring 18 apartments at a single site, Stepping Stone also features on-site Head Start and community mental health programs, an after-school program and a computer lab.
* Food Pantry: Operated five days a weeks, CCA's Food Pantry serves about 500 families and individuals a month and features a "Client Choice" approach that allows clients, on a once-a-month basis, to choice the food items they desire, subject to availability, rather than be given a pre-packaged bag.
*LifeWorks Center: This is the home of our Advocacy and Education Project and our Mothers for Justice / P.O.W.E.R (People and Opportunity for Education and Reform)empowerment groups. LifeWorks is also where we hold our annual leadership and public policy development institutes for persons of low income, as well as our Popular Economics course, designed for persons with no formal training in this subject.
Other programs that benefit from donations are our after-school program and our annual Thanksgiving Food Basket program (which served more than 2,500 family members, disabled individuals and seniors in 2003).
